THE ESSENCE OF THE INVENTION IS THE METHOD OF CUTTING NATURAL FIBRES DESIGNED FOR THE PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITES WITH THERMOPLASTIC POLYMERS BY ORGANISING DE-SHIVED FIBRES IN BUNCHES WITHIN THE KNIFE AREA. THE FIBRES ARE TIGHTLY TIED WITH ROPE MADE OF CUT FIBRE, IN BUNCHES UP TO 100 MM IN DIAMETER USING A SCREW MOVEMENT. THESE BUNCHES ARE THEN PUT IN A SLIDING FEEDER. USING THE UNIT, THE FIBRE ELEMENTS ARE CUT 0.5–30 MM PER SINGLE KNIFE MOVEMENT.

The application of the invention results in the following technical and economic advantages:
• all prepared material is utilised for production - no waste,
• the drying of cut fibre is easier,
• the obtained fibre is of appropriate length and can be directly used for pressing with polymer,
• simple design of the cutting unit,
• possibility to adjust the fibre length within the 0.5–30 mm range.
